Lanao del Norte hosts 1st MTB Festival

LANAO DEL NORTE, June 27 — The Land of Beauty and Bounty hosted the first-ever MTB Downhill Competition where riders from the different regions of the country gathered at the world-class Motocross Race Track in the Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex for the two-day festival on June 22 to 23, 2019.

Executive Assistant to the Office of the Provincial Governor, Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo – who is a sports advocate and a triathlete – welcomed participants from Cotabato, Davao, Zamboanga, Pagadian, Ozamis, Iligan, Iloilo, General Santos, to name a few, in the Province of Lanao del Norte.

Aminah expressed her appreciation to the organizers for choosing Lanao del Norte to host its MTB Festival, an opportunity to experience the warm hospitality of the people and see for themselves how peaceful the province is.

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte welcomes hosting any sporting event not only to boost sports tourism but also since sports is an effective way to keep the youth from going into drugs and criminality.

Lanao del Norte has been named as the Motocross Capital of the Philippines, and with the success of the 1st MTB Festival in the province, Lanao del Norte is ready to host future MTB Festivals.

The two-day event includes the MTB Downhill-Invitational Open, MTB Enduro – National Invitational Open, and Cross-Country Olympic (XCO).

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte actively promotes sports in the province and as one of the proponents of this activity along with the Unified Cycling Clubs, Iligan (UCCI) Multisports.

Aminah together with Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Reinario Bihag graced the awarding of trophies to the winners along with the race officials.

The activity was made possible through the collaboration between the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, Unified Cycling Clubs, Iligan (UCCI) Multisports, Armed Forces of the Philippines-5th Mechanized Infantry (Kaagapay) Batallion, and the Philippine National Police. (PIO-LDN)
