Diyandi festival month opens its doors

Iligan City-On September 1st the Diyandi Festival sa Iligan 2018 Executive Management Board (EMB) had formally opened the Diyandi Festival Park (formally named “Mugna”) as its opening salvo for the Diyandi Festival month of September, with this year theme, “Celebrating Cultural Diversity amid Tourism and Economic Growth.”

Earlier that afternoon a mass was offered followed by the cutting of ribbon of the Diyandi Festival Park spearheaded by ABC President Cesarvi C. Siacor, EMB, overall Chair with Acting Mayor Jemar L. Vera Cruz and the City Councils, followed by a program at the Diyandi Festival Park Gymnasium.

 During the program, Siacor officially opened the annual fiesta activities of the Diyandi by a welcome address marking officially the opening of all the September month festival celebration.

Highlighting the program was a ritual dance from the Higaoon IP’s, MSU-IIT Kalimulan Dance Troupe and the San Miguel Original Diyandi Tambacan, Kaliwat Iligan Eskrema sa Panaghiusa.

The candidates for Ms. Iligan 2016, Mr. Maharlika model search 2018 and Muy Caliente Models were presented also during the program.

Concurrent with the formal grand opening ceremonies and activities, there were also free rides for an hour at the carnival that were availed by most locals that enjoyed the full experience of the Diyandi carnival.

Iliganons are expected to mark the traditional observance and piety of the nine-day novena after the “Pag-pakanaog ni Sr. San Miguel” on September 20, this is to honor the feast of San Miguel De Archangel, the patron saint of Iligan City.

The fiesta extravaganza from date will be highlighted by the Diyandi float parade on September 24, Silent drill Competition on the 26th. The Diyandi Street Dancing and showdown contest and the Ms. Iligan coronation night on 27th and the Parada de San Miguel on the 28th. # Irma Boza ( nowpinay)
